Before you even make your first bet, Pokerwize can help you determine whether it’s worth risking any cash.  Just hold the pointer over your pocket cards (see fig1) and Pokerwize will display the Pre-Flop Hand Ranking for the hand.   Hands are ranked from 1 to 169, with two Aces ranking number 1.  Although there’s no general rule on how high a rank you should take a gamble on, the best advice any pro will give you is fold weak cards.  Pokerwize just makes it easier to figure out how strong your cards are.

Let’s say that you’ve made it to the flop and you want to see how you stand in the hand statistically.  By holding down the left mouse button on the community cards you’ll bring up the odds calculator.
(see fig3)

From here you can see the odds of what your hand will be after the next card is dealt.

The upper chart refers to your own private hand, while the lower graph shows the chances of one of your opponents making a hand.

In the top right hand corner you have the number of out cards, these are the cards that will improve your hand if dealt at the next turn. If you run the mouse over the box we display all the cards should be hoping for.

For example here the player has a pair of Queens; after the next card is dealt they have a 51.80% chance of still having one pair after the next card is dealt.  They also have a 37.47% chance of improving their hand rank to two pairs.

Along the bottom are the same percentages but for your opponents. This can give you a quick idea of where you stand in the hand, and what you should be watching out for.

When you are facing a bet but are still looking to draw a winning hand, you need to consider the Pot Odds are.  What are Pot Odds?  Well put simply the Pot Odds are the ratio of how much it will cost you to call the bet, compared to the amount you stand to win.

This can be tricky to keep tabs on, but Pokerwize automatically calculates the pot odds for you.  All you have to do is click on the community cards and the pot odds will be displayed in the top left of the box on the screen.

By comparing the pot odds you are facing to the likelihood you have of drawing the winning hand, you can determine whether to bet or fold.

If the likelihood of you making the wining hand is greater than the risk/reward ratio (i.e. the Pot Odds); you should probably call.

That is why with Pokerwize we automatically draw the pot odds line over your draw percentages graph in the Odds Calculator.  So that way you can quickly compare and see whether it is worth you calling.  You can see the Odds Calculator by left clicking and holding down on the community cards.

If you’re still not sure how these checks can help you, we suggest you try playing with them.  Next time you’re asked to call, take a look at the odds and see if you get a sense of what they’re telling you.  Because you’re using Pokerwize, you’ve got this information at your fingertips, and you have a valuable edge over the other players
