All Multi-table tournaments

Multi-table tournaments or MTTs are tournaments with players playing simultaneously at dozens or even hundreds of tables! You need to register in advance to play an MTT, and some of them are very popular, so it's best to get in early.

There are several different structures to MTT tournaments that you should be aware of.

• Freerolls:

  These are free to enter and therefore attract a lot of players, once you lose your chips it’s tournament over.

• Freezeout:

  A freezeout tournament is where you make a one off payment of say $10 +$1, the $10 goes into the prize pool which is then split amongst the top finishing players, the $1 goes to the poker room for hosting the event. You can see the prize pool and how it will be split in the tournament lobby before you enter.

• Re-buy:

  A re-buy tournament is a little bit more complicated. First of all you have a buy-in fee; the same as a freezeout. But if you have less chips than you started with, you can request a re-buy; this is done by clicking on the dealer or the chip tray in the level. At the end of the hand a box will come up and ask if you’d like to re-buy. In some tournaments you can just use cash, and in others you can use your Wizepoints as an alternative to cash. Every time someone re-buys, more money gets added to the prize pool so there's more money to win at the end! If you lose all your chips, the box will automatically appear and offer you a re-buy if it’s within the allotted time. Re-buys are usually allowed for the first hour of the tournament, otherwise they could go on forever!!

  Most re-buy tournaments also allow what’s known as an add-on at the end of the hour. This is a chance to buy the same amount of chips that you started with for the same fee.
  

• Qualifiers:

  These are exactly what it says on the tin, they are a way to get into bigger tournaments for less money. Example, we lay on a $250,000 tournament every month. If you wanted to buy in to the tournament straight away you can, simply join and pay the $100 + $10 buy in. Or you could qualify by playing in a $250,000 Qualifier which is only $10 + $1 to enter. At least one out of every ten that play in the qualifier will win a place into the major tournament.

• Guaranteed tournaments:

  These are great value tournaments to enter, here we guarantee a minimum prize pool of say $6,000 and everyone who enters for $3 + 50c adds to this prize pool. These are usually re-buy tournaments so the prizes to be won can get really big! These come highly recommended; just ask our player Laughing Fish who on New Years day won $4,500, nice way to start the year!

Because there are so many players at an MTT, it pays to bide your time and wait for a really good set of pocket cards before striking.
